United keeper Dean Henderson confident about his move to Nottingham Forest

As stated by the Sun Live, Manchester United keeper Dean Henderson is reportedly convinced that he will make a permanent move to Nottingham Forest.

The 26-year-old player is said to be confused by suggestions that he might remain at United, as the club is actively planning to sell him.

Henderson was informed by Forest of their intention to sign him following their successful campaign to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Forest has reportedly considered a potential £30 million deal for Henderson, who is currently recovering from surgery for a thigh strain that has kept him out of action since January.

The English shot-stopper has returned from his holiday, but his anticipated departure from Man United may be delayed due to the complex goalkeeper situation at the club.

David de Gea, whose contract is entering its final week, is expected to be replaced as the club’s No. 1 goalkeeper, as senior figures within the club are eager to move on from the Spanish goalkeeper.

In the meantime, United has exercised the one-year extensions on the contracts of goalkeepers Tom Heaton and Nathan Bishop. The intention is for them to provide backup to a new first-choice goalkeeper in the upcoming season.

The situation regarding Henderson’s departure is currently uncertain due to these factors surrounding United’s goalkeeping department.

United has shown admiration for Anderlecht goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen, while Brentford’s David Raya is reportedly valued at approximately £40 million. There have been suggestions of a potential reunion between Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana and United’s manager Erik ten Hag, who previously coached him at Ajax.

However, there has been limited communication between Ten Hag and Henderson, as the latter rejected an offer to return to the squad during the previous season after Martin Dubravka’s loan from Newcastle was cut short.

Henderson has not trained under Ten Hag, and he harboured resentment towards former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for failing on a promise to make him the team’s number one goalkeeper.

Interestingly, Ajax had expressed interest in securing Henderson on loan during the January transfer window last year when Onana was approaching the end of his contract.
