United ready to offer £10m pay-off to Harry Maguire amid West Ham interests

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United is reportedly prepared to offer a £10 million pay-off to Harry Maguire as he potentially moves to West Ham United during the summer transfer window.

The English centre-back has had limited playing time this season under manager Erik Ten Hag, starting only eight matches in the Premier League.

With his place in the England national team at risk, the 29-year-old defender is expected to seek a new challenge, and it is claimed that United will compensate him for his departure.

Maguire is currently on a £190,000-a-week contract with two years remaining. If he leaves United, he would earn only half of his current salary.

The Red Devils are reportedly willing to provide a £10 million payment to facilitate his transfer, which could potentially be to another Premier League club.

United values Maguire at approximately £30 million, and that they anticipate interest from West Ham United in the coming weeks. The Hammers had previously inquired about the club captain in January, but ten Hag was reluctant to part ways with one of his key defenders.

Maguire has struggled to make an impact under Ten Hag this season, experiencing a disappointing start to the campaign and being benched after just two league games.

While he has had occasional starts for United throughout the season, his performances have been unconvincing.

As a result, it is suggested that the club should part ways with Maguire in the upcoming transfer window. The funds from his sale could then be used to acquire a young player.

Moving to West Ham could be a suitable option for Maguire. The team’s defensive approach, with a low block, would align well with his playing style.

The club captain has appeared vulnerable within United’s system, and his strengths in winning aerial duels and making clearances may be better utilized under the management of David Moyes.
