United set to held talks with Julian Alvarez agent over a £20m move

According to Diario Sport, Manchester United is prepared to activate Julian Alvarez’s release clause in order to sign him from River Plate. They are currently planning to hold talks with his agent regarding a move.

Barcelona, Real Madrid, Internazionale, and Bayern Munich are all said to be interested in signing the Argentine attacker, but it appears that the English heavyweights are leading the race. His agent, Fernando Hidalgo, is expected to travel to England this week to finalize a deal.

Both Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial have been linked with moves away from Old Trafford, so the prospect of bringing in a prolific, low-cost striker with tremendous potential is appealing.

In 2021, Alvarez has been Argentina’s breakout star. In 53 games for a River Plate side that was crowned Argentina’s champions, he scored 23 goals and added 18 assists.

He was also a member of the Argentine team that won the Copa America, and The Guardian recently ranked him 91st among the world’s top 100 footballers.

These speculations make a lot of sense as he is believed to have a great future at Old Trafford. United, with the exception of Marcus Rashford, lacks an explosive forward capable of stretching the opponents.

The 21-year-old is a quick and dynamic player who would fit very well with Ralf Rangnick’s direct approach to the game. Alvarez is a likely bargain at £20 million and could prove to be a wise addition for the club.
