Manchester United may have found a solution to their left-back issues with Sofyan Amrabat’s standout performance in the Carabao Cup third round against Crystal Palace.
The Moroccan star recently made his debut for United in the Premier League match against Burnley. In that game, he took over the left-back position from Sergio Reguilon during the latter stages of a 1-0 victory.
In Tuesday’s match, the 27-year-old had his first full start in the same position. Reguilon, who had been unwell and possibly injured during the Burnley game, was unavailable for selection.
As revealed by Statman Dave‘s statistics, Amrabat displayed a natural aptitude for the defensive role, impressing with 91 touches and a remarkable passing accuracy of 96%, successfully completing 78 out of 81 attempted passes.

Amrabat was substituted after an hour of play, which hints at the possibility of him starting as the left-back in the upcoming Premier League match on Saturday.
It’s worth noting that Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are currently dealing with long-term injuries, and Lisandro Martinez is also unavailable due to an injury sustained before the Burnley game.

Erik ten Hag mentioned that Reguilon’s absence last weekend was due to illness, but there were moments when the Spanish player appeared to be nursing his hamstring, suggesting the possibility of an injury.
It seems likely that United will continue to deploy Amrabat as their left-back in the immediate future. This development provides a fresh solution for the left-back position, especially in light of the unfortunate injuries.
United are scheduled to face Crystal Palace once again in the Premier League this upcoming weekend. Both teams are expected to make several changes to their lineups. The Red Devils will be aiming for their third consecutive victory.
