Manchester United FC were reportedly about to have a huge summer transfer window, although it has been anything but. The Red Devils have only signed one player till now and have sold only one player, despite several players waiting for the move. It has now been reported by ESPN how United have found it difficult to sell the deadwood out of the club this transfer window.
The club has reportedly listed out several players they wanted to sell this summer, having sold Sanchez earlier. The list included Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo, Sergio Romero and Andreas Pereira, who are all deemed as surplus to Solskjaer’s needs at United. All of the above-mentioned players have been linked with a couple of clubs, but none have been shipped out yet.
Smalling is the closest to moving out, with the interests of AS Roma, whereas Rojo has attracted interest from Lazio. On the other hand, Romero has been heavily linked with Leeds and Pereira has drawn attention from Valencia. But United need to turn the interests from other clubs into sales as it would lower the wage bill in total and will also bring in cash.
Manchester United could use the cash generated by the sales and use it elsewhere for signing new players.
