United won’t extend Sanchez’s and Smalling’s loan

Manchester United FC will reportedly have a very busy summer transfer window as they look to complete their squad overhaul this summer. It was earlier reported that Ed Woodward had put up to six for sale, to generate funds for recruits. The Red Devils have decided not to extend Smalling’s and Sanchez’s loans at their respective clubs and will only look for permanent deals.

Alexis Sanchez and Chris Smalling have been offloaded on-loan to Inter Milan and AS Roma at the beginning of this season. Both the players didn’t feature in Solskjaer’s plans and were surplus to requirements at Old Trafford. Thus, to take a load off the wage bills, United shifted out both the players to the Italian Serie-A.

Both the players have spent successful stints in their loan deals with their respective clubs and are keen to stay at their current clubs. But United is looking to sell both Sanchez and Smalling and aren’t keen on loaning these players out anymore. It was reported earlier this month that AS Roma have almost agreed for a permanent move for Chris Smalling.

On the other hand, Inter Milan are also keen to sign Sanchez permanently but want the Chilean to take a huge pay-cut. Currently, Sanchez’s and Smalling’s deals run out on the 2nd of August which does not extend to the Europa League. Roma and Inter are both in the Europa League and will try to sign Sanchez and Smalling as soon as possible.

Sanchez has been fantastic for the Nerazzuri, especially since the restart, as he has scored or assisted in his last seven games. Under Antonio Conte, the Chilean seems to have found his old charm and is playing as he used to at Arsenal. Conte is keen on keeping Sanchez at Inter, but that will only happen if Sanchez agrees to take a hefty pay-cut.

Roma and United are currently struggling to match on their valuations for Smalling, but might soon on for a transfer fee. The same is the case with Inter, but the Red Devils will be happy to sell both Sanchez and Smalling. The transfer window opens tomorrow and the Red Devils should be ready for a busy summer.
