Valencia contact Manchester United for second-choice goalkeeper

With Dean Henderson signing a long-term contract with Manchester United, Romero’s future with the Red Devils looks grim. The veteran Argentine has been fantastic as a back-up to David De Gea and is arguable the best back-up goalkeeper in the world. It is now being reported by The Mirror that United are open to selling him this summer and Valencia have shown interest in the Argentinian.

Romero was fantastic last season as he was an integral part of United run into the latter stages of cup competitions. However, Solskjaer didn’t start him in between the sticks in either of the cup semifinals. This move had made the relationship between Romero and Solskjaer sour and thus the former wants to leave Manchester United now, especially with Henderson’s arrival.

It is now being reported that Sergio Romero is being contacted by Valencia, who are planning to sign him this summer. With all of Valencia’s summer woes, Romero could be the cut-price solution to their problems in between the sticks. According to reports, the Spanish club wants to pay about £6m for Romero’s services this summer.

Manchester United needs to sell Romero as they will not want to keep three good goalkeepers in the squad and his transfer fees can be used elsewhere.
