Wayne Rooney officially announces retirement from football

Wayne Rooney is the epitome of the kind of talent that the golden generation of Manchester United had.

Every Manchester United fan was left in tears as another one of the legends of the game officially retires as he took over the management of Derby County on a permanent basis. Wayne Rooney has been a faithful servant to the club and everyone acknowledges that.

In the twilight of his career, Wayne Rooney was playing for the second division team Derby County and took over as interim manager. He took over as the permanent manager and officially announced his retirement as a player.

All of the 90s fans have seen an entire generation of their legends leave their playing days behind in this decade and make an entry into the managerial position. Wayne Rooney is the latest one to be added to this growing list.

Wayne Rooney came to the limelight in his Evertonian days as a young lad who terrorised defenders who were bigger and much more experienced than him. He then came under the tutelage of Alex Fergusson at Manchester United and set the footballing world ablaze.

He won an impressive tally of titles with Manchester United and will forever go down in their folklore as one of the greatest to ever step foot in the theatre of dreams, besides being a role model for up and coming forwards at Old Trafford.

With his immediate jump into management, it would certainly be great to see him managing the Red Devils one day but all of that seems like part of the distant future.
