According to a report from The Telegraph, West Ham United are considering a move for Manchester United defender Harry Maguire following their record-breaking sale of Declan Rice to Arsenal.
The East London club recently sold Rice to Arsenal for a whopping £100 million, with an additional £5 million in add-ons. With the sale completed, the Hammers have now expected to shift their focus towards making their own signings in the transfer market.
West Ham are interested in Maguire and are willing to test his commitment to United by enticing him to join their squad.
The 30-year-old defender experienced a decline in playing time under manager Erik ten Hag last season but remains content at the club and believes he can regain his place in the team.

However, David Moyes’ side are hoping to attract Maguire to London and would prefer a loan agreement rather than a permanent transfer at this stage.
While the English star started the previous season as part of the central defence alongside Lisandro Martinez, he was subsequently dropped to the bench following defeats to Brighton and Brentford, leading to just 14 more starts for the remainder of the campaign.
Luke Shaw was deployed as a central defender on 11 occasions last season while Maguire was on the bench. This suggests that the captain does not feature prominently in Ten Hag’s long-term plans.
West Ham are reportedly considering a loan deal for the defender, potentially due to his high wages. Maguire is currently earning £190,000 per week.

United may need to offer him a significant financial settlement for a permanent transfer with reduced wages. The Red Devils values Maguire at approximately £30 million, which is considered reasonable for his skill set.
Once the English defender departs, United could intensify their pursuit of Axel Disasi.
