Fellow Frenchman Anthony Martial has hailed his new teammate Raphael Varane and has spoken about the player’s qualities. Both the players have been teammates while playing for France and now they are playing together for Manchester United again.
While talking to the club’s official website, Anthony Martial revealed his excitement about playing with his French teammate. He said: “Varane is a big-time player. I don’t think he will need too much time to adapt to his new environment, but I’m there for him for whatever little help or advice he may need. He has all his experience, – he’s a player who has won a lot during the time of his career at Real Madrid and also in the French national team, so I am sure he will bring all his powers, as he really is a top player and I know things are going to go well for him here at United.”
Anthony Martial returned after a long five months spell due to his knee injury. He joined the training on the final pre-season game and then made an appearance as a substitute against Leeds United.
Meanwhile, Raphael Varane was declared as a United player on Sunday before the kickoff. He walked into the pitch and bossed the Old Trafford stadium as the fans erupted in joy.
United have got the trio of French footballers playing for them. Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial, and now Raphael Varane have been added to the list.
This is not the first time that three French players have played together for Manchester United. In the year 2008, Patrice Evra, Mikael Silvestre, and Louis Saha were three French players that played together for Manchester United and they won the Premier League trophy that year.
Another French player who had a big influence on the club was the Legendary striker Eric Cantona.
Raphael Varane will now be hugely tipped to be the next legendary Frenchman to play for Manchester United.
