Manchester United’s initial bid for Benjamin Pavard has been rejected by Bayern Munich, as reported by the German publication SportBILD.
Meanwhile, United are engaged in advanced negotiations with West Ham United concerning the transfer of Harry Maguire.
Although personal terms haven’t been finalized for the centre-back, there’s potential for a deal to take shape in the upcoming days.
Taking this situation into consideration, the leadership of the club is focused on securing a high-quality replacement. According to SportBILD, they have submitted an initial transfer offer to acquire Pavard from Bayern Munich.
However, Bayern have declined this offer. Man United might still come back with a new offer.
In addition to this, Liverpool are also in the race for the French defender’s signature, as he has been on their radar since the beginning of the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils have recently been linked with both Pavard and Jean-Clair Todibo, but it appears that the former is the primary target for manager Erik ten Hag.
This decision doesn’t come as a surprise, as the 27-year-old possesses extensive experience in high-level competition.
In the previous season, he maintained an impressive performance record, completing an average of 67 passes per league game with a 90% accuracy rate.
Additionally, he exhibited solid defensive skills, averaging 2.3 tackles and winning five duels per match for Bayern.
Remarkably, these statistics were achieved while Pavard was utilized as a right-back for half of his appearances. His versatility would make him an exceptional addition to United’s squad.
While Jean-Clair Todibo has greater potential for growth due to being three and a half years younger than Pavard, the United manager seems to be prioritising an experienced player capable of making an impact in matches.
Presently, Pavard’s market value is estimated at approximately €30 million according to Bayern. However, as he is in the final year of his contract, United are likely to engage in negotiations for a reduced transfer fee.
Considering that Liverpool are also monitoring the situation, United must act quickly to secure the French star’s signature.
