Leicester City playmaker James Maddison said “of course” he is staying with the Foxes amid links to Premier League rivals Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
Maddison’s exploits for Leicester City over the past few seasons have seen him reportedly emerge as a top transfer target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United in the summer.
The 23-year-old England midfielder is contracted at the King Power stadium Leicester 2023 and James Maddison is eager to continue playing with Leicester City dismissing rumours of joining the Red Devils.
Manchester United have been keen admirers of the Leicester City attacker and with the speculation surrounding French midfielder Paul Pogba, United are in the race to sign a potential replacement in midfield.
The young English superstar was recently asked by a fan if he was staying at with the Foxes and Maddison said via BT Sport’s Twitter account responded by saying, “Of course I am.” Maddison further added that “It was one of the best decisions I’ve made, coming here. I love it.”
Leicester City signed Maddison from rivals Norwich City in the summer of 2018 for a reported £20million fee as a replacement for Man City-bound Riyad Mahrez.
Maddison has flourished at the King Power Stadium under Brendan Rodgers this term and he has scored a total of 16 goals across all competitions since arriving at the club.
Before the 2019-20 Premier League season was postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak in the UK, Maddison had scored six goals and supplied three assists in the English top-flight this season. Manchester United might have to look at other alternatives after Maddison reportedly rejected a move to Old Trafford.
