Jesse Lingard’s move to Newcastle United on the verge of collapse

Newcastle United’s attempt to sign Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard is reportedly on the verge of collapse after the club failed to reach an agreement over a loan deal.

According to a recent report by The Athletic, the Red Devils want a £12 million bonus included in the deal. This could be a huge price for a player who will be playing only for six months for the Magpies.

Newcastle was interested in signing Lingard on loan for the rest of the season and were willing to pay the midfielder’s salary in full, but the deal fell through as both the clubs failed to negotiate the transfer fee.

After a disappointing season at Old Trafford, Lingard was keen on a loan move to Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United. The England international had yet to start a Premier League match this season and he wanted to revive his career somewhere else.

He is out of contract at the end of the season and he wants to join the Magpies on loan, which would allow him to keep his options open as he would become a free agent after six months.

West Ham (who signed Lingard on loan last season), and Tottenham were also interested in the 29-year-old midfielder, but United was hesitant to let him depart to a club that is their fierce rivals.

As of now, Jesse Lingard has no plans to stay at Manchester United, thus Newcastle will seek other options as the club looks to strengthen their team before the deadline day approaches.
