Manchester United Pursues £34M Bologna Striker

Manchester United is keen on signing Bologna’s forward Joshua Zirkzee, Sky Sports reports. With Anthony Martial’s deal ending in late June, the team needs a new main striker.

United has been eyeing Zirkzee for a while, and AC Milan is also interested in him.

The 23-year-old from the Netherlands did well in his second year at Bologna, hitting 12 goals and making seven assists in 37 matches in all competitions.

His excellent displays have turned him into a wanted man in the ongoing summer transfer market, with a £34 million release clause present in his contract.

Despite Zirkzee’s Bologna side qualifying for next season’s Champions League, the Dutchman is still expected to leave this summer.

Indeed, trusted transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano stated in recent days that the player is very interested in the Milan project and would be glad to stay in Italy.

The Rossoneri are ready to pay his release clause over a number of instalments, with negotiations and agreements on commission that Zirkzee’s agent reportedly wants to be no less than £13 million.

There is a suspicion that the name of Joorabchian, the agent, is being used with Milan’s interest to speed up a deal.

Given Zirkzee’s apparent preference for Milan and the potential desire for a guaranteed starting role, it is uncertain whether he would make the move to Old Trafford.

United, on the other hand, may be careful not to hinder the development of their young striker, Rasmus Hojlund, and may prefer to sign a forward who is ready to take on a secondary role.

Youssef En-Nesyri is an alternative center forward from Sevilla, and with 20 goals in an impressive campaign, he was really very good throughout the season.

Strong in the air, En-Nesyri could be a valuable addition to United’s squad.

So, while Manchester United will continue to monitor the situation of Joshua Zirkzee, it currently seems as though AC Milan is leading the race for his signature.

Though, an expensive agent commission and the striker’s enthusiasm for Milan might lead to a possible move to Old Trafford.

United might finally succumb to the standoff over the deal and consider other options like En-Nesyri for their striking force in the next season.
