With multiple important players starting to practice again, Manchester United has a major advantage going into their FA Cup final match against Manchester City. Mason Mount who has battled with injuries in his debut campaign at Old Trafford is back on the training field in time for the pivotal game at Wembley.
Due to numerous injuries, Mount who cost £55 million to acquire from Chelsea to join United had a difficult season making just 8 starts across all competitions. After recovering from a calf injury in March, he started his first game of the year against Crystal Palace and scored his first goal for the team against Brentford.
Sadly, he experienced another setback in his injury soon after which it kept him out of the last three Premier League games of the season. But on Wednesday, the 25-year-old midfielder was spotted working out, sparking speculation that he might play in the FA Cup final.

However, as they get ready for their season-ending match, Manchester United’s defense has also shown encouraging signs despite its own injury problems. After missing action since February, Lisandro Martinez made his Premier League return against Brighton. Raphael Varane returned to action as well, entering the game late off the bench.
Varane’s last game with United before his anticipated summer departure could see the first-choice central defenders back together for the first time in four months. Furthermore, Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire are regaining their maximal level of fitness.
The last four games that United played were without Maguire who was recently named in England’s Euro 2024 squad. He expressed his dissatisfaction in an interview with talkSPORT saying “Obviously it’s disappointing and frustrating time to get injured” and he is still unsure about his availability for the FA Cup final.
As manager Erik ten Hag gets his team ready for the FA cup final against their city rivals, Victor Lindelof is also back in training giving him more depth and options. Another player with a season marred by injuries, Luke Shaw was named to England’s Euro 2024 group. His continued recuperation process makes it unlikely that he will play in the final though.

These players’ return is timely for Manchester United who are looking to defeat a strong Manchester City team and win some silverware. Varane, Martinez, Mount and possibly Maguire and Lindelof will be crucial in fortifying the team and giving it the depth it needs to contend successfully at Wembley. United supporters will be hoping that their team can win the FA Cup and finish the season on a high note with this injury boost.
