As reported by the Daily Mail, Manchester United has rekindled their interest in long-term target Kieran Trippier. They are keen to bring him to Old Trafford but have to deal with a tricky £50m release clause.
Last summer, Solskjaer wanted to sign the Atletico Madrid right-back as an attacking alternative to Aaron Wan-Bissaka. But they failed to get him as the Spanish side was reluctant to sell him for anything less than £40m.
With the player being in his 30s, United will be planning to get him for anything less than £30m. However, now it has been reported that the Reds have to face stiff competition from the cash-rich club- Newcastle United.
Newcastle will be highly investing in the squad next summer as their new owners want to build a strong squad that is capable of winning trophies. They have the potential to activate Trippier’s release clause which could be a major blow for Manchester United.
Manchester United was already in talks with the English right-back and will be trying to find an alternative solution as soon as possible.
Diogo Dalot has been playing as the backup right-back for Wan-Bissaka but both lack that final cutting edge that Solskjaer wants. Trippier’s dangerous pinpoint crosses and sharp runs for England and Atletico Madrid are being needed now at Old Trafford.
