The latest reports have claimed that Premier League outfit Manchester United are trying to negotiate a deal with Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele in the upcoming January transfer window.
The Red Devils have gotten off to their worst ever start in the Premier League after seven games played as the club has struggled to find goals as well as points. After their opening day 4-0 demolition job against Chelsea, United have managed to score only seven goals in their previous nine games across all competitions without managing to score twice in a single game.
United needed to take the game to a penalty shoot-out to see off Rochdale in the League Cup and suffered humiliating defeats against West Ham United as well as Crystal Palace in the Premier League. However, dreadful performances and the lack of conviction in their football is something that is bothering United fans at the moment.
Although the new recruits in the form of Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan Bissaka and Daniel James have been quality upgrades in the first team, there is no spine at the club and United may need a few more signings in the next transfer window if they are to get anywhere near the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool over the next few years
Solskjaer allowed key forward duo of Alexis Sanchez as well as Romelu Lukaku to leave the club in the summer transfer window to join Inter Milan and losing those two big-name strikers has caused a few problems as United are struggling in the attacking third to kill off chances. Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have been injury prone as well this season and 17-year-old forward Mason Greenwood has been the only attacking option at times for the 20 time League Champions.
The 46-year-old Norwegian has hinted that he will look to lure in an attacking player in the January transfer window and United have been linked with swooping in for Leicester City’s James Maddison as well as Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho.
But the latest reports from have claimed that United are in the hunt to sign Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele in January when the winter transfer window opens up. The French winger arrived at the Camp Nou back in the summer of 2017 for a staggering transfer fee of €105 million from German side Dortmund but hasn’t really justified his price tag. Dembele has had a stop-start career with the La Liga giants in the Catalonian capital due to his injury woes as well as poor form but he is still valued as one of the top superstars in Europe.
