Manchester United’s defensive duo unlikely to return before November

According to ESPN, Manchester United defensive duo, Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka might not be back in action until after the November international break.

Injuries have been a significant challenge for the Red Devils this season, with Harry Maguire being the latest player to join the list of sidelined players after the match against Bayern Munich.

Apart from Maguire, Shaw, Wan-Bissaka, and Tyrell Malacia are also dealing with injuries. However, there is some hope as Raphael Varane could potentially return to the team soon.

The latest report suggests that both Shaw and Wan-Bissaka may remain on the sidelines for approximately two more months, with their potential return scheduled for the game against Everton on November 25.

Shaw hasn’t been in action for United since their loss to Tottenham Hotspur due to a muscle injury, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka recently suffered a hamstring problem during the Brighton & Hove Albion match.

The Red Devils have had a challenging start to the season in terms of both results and injuries. The club certainly has the potential to return to winning ways, but there are legitimate concerns.

Currently, Erik ten Hag has only two fully fit full-backs at his disposal, namely Diogo Dalot and Sergio Reguilon.

There is also no set return date for Tyrell Malacia. The Dutch player sustained a knee injury during the summer and has not yet progressed to individual training.

Man United are hopeful that the 24-year-old will recover before Shaw and Wan-Bissaka, providing the manager with additional defensive options.

Ten Hag could potentially deploy Victor Lindelof and Lisandro Martinez as a makeshift right-back and left-back if necessary, but this would be a last-resort scenario.

United will be looking to break their three-match losing streak when they face Burnley on the road tomorrow.
