Sancho to join United only with Champions League football

Manchester United FC have been linked with Sancho for the entire season and the move seems to materialize as the transfer window approaches. The transfer window will be open for 10 weeks, as it opens on the 27th of July. It is now being reported that the Red Devils will go for Sancho only if they play Champions League football next season.

There have been several sources reporting various figures that will make both United and Dortmund happy. Earlier, the Red Devils’ senior officials had said that the club will not part with more than £50m for Sancho. But, this figure seems way too low for someone as talented as Sancho, even in these times of the pandemic.

Dortmund were reportedly asking for a minimum of £108m for their talismanic Englishman, as they don’t want to let go of Sancho. But, this figure seems to be too much because all clubs have faced losses due to the pandemic situation. Thus, it will be interesting to see this window as what transfer fee both the parties agree upon.

The Red Devils are in the Europa League this season but are determined to return to the Champions League next season. United’s shirt sponsors, Adidas, have a clause that will see United losing £25m if they end up in the Europa League next season. This will be a huge dent on the Red Devils’ transfer budget as they look to rebuild under Solskjaer.

It is now being said that United will go for Sancho only if they qualify for Champions League next season. The Champions League brings in extra funds and will also allow Sancho to showcase his talent where the world is watching. The personal terms don’t stand as a problem for United and Sancho, as those have already been agreed upon.

The figure that is most likely to be accepted by Dortmund will be about £85m and then some possible add-ons. But, the German club expect about £100m from United, if they qualify for the Champions League through the Premier League. Once the transfer window opens and negotiations start between both the clubs we will be clear about what both the clubs want.
