United have been in the lookout of a centre-back and are aiming to a great centre-back to partner Harry Maguire. The Red Devils are reportedly keen to close the gap on Liverpool and Manchester City, with the backing of the board. It has been reported that United are currently set their sights on Dayot Upamecano, who is one of the best young centre-backs in the world.
The 21-year old was in the centre of a lot of transfer speculation at the beginning of summer but has subsequently extended his contract. According to reports, Upamecano has a release clause of €42m which can be triggered at the end of next season. But Solskjaer believes that he can lure the player to United and can find an agreement on the fees with Leipzig.
Dayot Upamecano would surely be an upgrade from Lindelof and by signing the young centre-back United can put forward a statement of intent.
