English Premier League

A positive start to a ‘Tough Campaign’

United gave their fans a perfect Friday feeling, winning the first match of Premier League against Leicester 2-1. The whole created a loud buzz among the fans as well as in the dressing room, for being back and winning.

The honor of wearing Captain’s armband was given to the French midfielder and possibly the best in United XI. Paul Pogba who took the responsibility in his hands, scoring goal in the 3rd minute of the game. This time it was not a powerful pogBOOM strike but a cheeky little kick to the right corner.

Old Trafford was buzzed with chants in just the second minute of the game, and the buzz did not get low. Leicester did have their chances but could not get the ball past the defensive shield of United De Gea.

The new summer signing Fred was also given his first competitive debut for United and was impressive in the field covering most of the ground. The possession and stats would have been in the favor of the Foxes, but it was United who scored the second goal again in last 8 minutes, with Luke Shaw scoring his first competitive goal for United.

Foxes did score in the extra time, with Vardy getting a header into the post, that was deflected back hitting the post. ‘It was too late to stop the final whistle.’

Jose Mourinho had got finally something to cheer upon and was a pleased Manager at the end of the game who quoted,“The players gave everything, they gave what they had. I told them to give everything they had.”
